Today is a day for celebration. 420 is commenced, but there’s only one issue: We’re all in quarantine. Since this is the first year in over 15 years that I haven’t spent 420 with other people, I figured I share it with all of you.
As we all know, and for those of you who don’t know, I am 100% pro cannabis. This includes legalization for all medical and recreational use.
Weed always gets a bad reputation of being a gateway drug. For me, weed has helped me stay OFF of drugs. I’ve been sober for over four years now and the only medication I use to stay sober is marijuana. There isn’t a better day to celebrate my appreciation for cannabis than today, 420.
For those of you who still think cannabis is dangerous, or the devil’s lettuce, I wanted to list some of the other things found in the scientific study by Harvard University on the medical uses of Marijuana.
Cannabis has so many medicinal properties that could help so many different people.
Weed isn’t just about getting high. Once you learn about the different cannabinoids, terpenes and how they affect your mind and body, you can use marijuana in a multitude of ways.
CBD especially has been the least controversial as it is non-psychoactive. This means CBD doesn’t get you high. CBD is also known to have the an abundance of medical and therapeutic benefits.
Straight from Harvard’s website on CBD:
“Patients do, however, report many benefits of CBD, from relieving insomnia, anxiety, spasticity, and pain to treating life-threatening conditions such as epilepsy. One Particular form of childhood epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome is almost impossible to control but responds dramatically to a CBD-dominant strain of marijuana called Charlotte’s Web. The videos of this are dramatic.”
Charlotte Figi, the child who the strain Charlotte’s Web was named after, passed away 4/8/20 at the age of 13. Bless this child for being so brave. RIP babygirl.
Pain control is the most common use of medical marijuana.
It might not be strong enough for severe pain, like a broken foot or a knife wound. However, cannabis works wonders for people who experience chronic pain. Marijuana is far safer (and cheaper!) than opiates. It can also take the place of NSAIDs, such as Advil or Aleve, which is beneficial for people with kidney or liver issues.
Cannabis appears to ease nerve pain, like for those experiencing multiple sclerosis where few other options exist. People don’t like feeling sedated all of the time like they do with opiates.
Marijuana can be used as a muscle relaxant.
People with Parkinson’s disease have reported less tremors. Positive outcome on fibromyalgia patients and people with endometriosis.
Also included in the list of things it could help with (But not limited to): Managing nausea, weight loss, appetite inducing, treating glaucoma, aiding in ptsd, wasting syndrome associate with HIV, and also IBS or Chron’s disease.
For me personally, marijuana has helped with many issues I’m dealing with.
The biggest thing marijuana helps with is my anxiety. I also use it for sleep. Only recently have I bought a highly concentrated CBD tincture from ThoughtCloud that I absolutely love for both of these as well. Cannabis also works really well for managing my depression, and to inciting inspiration and creativity. Most of all, weed has kept me sober.
Any urges I have to drink or use drugs is taken away with marijuana.
Alcohol and Opiates kill, while marijuana saves people.
So today, on 420, I’m here to celebrate cannabis with you. I am grateful to be in position of privilege as I live in a legal state. Living in Oregon allows me to have an overwhelming amount of good quality cannabis options; Even in the midst of a pandemic.
Even if I didn’t get to spend my 420 with others, I will make the most of this day that I was blessed to be alive and healthy for. I am with all of my friends and loved ones in spirit as I embark on the festivities of the day solo. Today is a day for creative adventures, good food and a lot of belly laughs.
Happy 420 everyone!
xoxo
